Hoge Venen/Haute Fagnes en Hoegne

Begin november bezocht ik met drie medefotografen van NFO-HHW de Hoge Venen/Haute Fagnes in Belgie. Natuurlijk hoopten we op mooie herfstkleuren, met name bij het riviertje de Hoegne. We troffen inderdaad mooie kleuren, al lag het hoogtepunt van de verkleuring een week eerder. Ook Noir Flohay, een stukje bos dat enkele jaren geleden door een veenbrand afgebrand was, konden tijdens een mooie zonsondergang fotograferen. Al met al was het een weekeinde met een rijke oogst.

In early November I visited with three other photographers of NFO HHW the Hautes Fagnes / Haute Fagnes in Belgium. Of course we were hoping for beautiful fall colors, especially at the river Hoegne. We actually hit pretty colors, although the highlight of the fall colors was a week earlier. We could also photograph Noir Flohay, a piece of forest that was burned some years ago by a wildfire, during a nice sunset. All in all it was a weekend with a rich photo-harvest.

Papegaaiduikers - Puffin

Begin mei ben ik met het gezin naar IJsland geweest. Gedurende de negen dagen hebben we veel zon gehad en veel moois gezien. Hoogtepunt waren de Papegaaiduikers in de buurt van Vik. Twee avonden kon ik ze mooi bekijken en van dichtbij fotograferen. De eerste avond trok er net een sneeuwbui langs zodat ik de Papegaaiduikers in de sneeuw kon fotograferen. De tweede avond was er een fraaie zonsondergang. Prachtige omstandigheden om leuke opnames te maken van deze fotogenieke dieren!

Early May I went with the family to Iceland. During the nine days we had a lot of sun and we have seen many beautiful things. The highlight was the Puffins near Vik. Two nights I could observe and photograph them pretty close. The first some snow was falling so I could photograph the Puffins in the snow. The second night there was a beautiful sunset. Beautiful conditions to make nice shots of these photogenic animals!

Duin- en Kruidberg

In april ben ik met een gezelschap van fotoclub NFO-HHW naar Duin en Kruidberg geweest. Een mooi landgoed met veel oude bomen. Hoewel het echte voorjaar nog moest losbarsten waren er wel al wat stinzenplanten aan het bloeien. Ook waren er jonge Nijlgansjes te zien. Erg jong, want de eitand was nog goed te zien. Voor de Vingerhelmbloem kwam de nieuwe 100-400mm goed van pas met de nog kortere instelafstand. De Nijlgansjes zijn gemaakt met een 700mm.

In April I went with a group of the photo club NFO HHW to Duin en Kruidberg at Santpoort. A beautiful estate with many old trees. Although the real spring had yet to erupt there were already some plants to flourish. There were also young Egyptian Geese. Very young, because the egg tooth was still visible. For Corydalis solida plant the new 100-400mm came in handy with the even shorter minimal focus distance. The Egyptian Geese were taken with a 700mm.

Winter van 1 dag - One day winter

De winter lijkt ons land steeds vaker links te laten liggen. En komen er dan winterse omstandigheden voor dan gaan die vaak aan Noord-Holland voorbij. 30 januari was het dan eindelijk zover dat we ook in Noord-Holland van sneeuw konden genieten. Vaak kun je dan in de Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen veel leuke onderwerpen vinden. Deze keer werkten de Damherten wel goed mee. Toen ik een paar mooie stammetjes vond die met sneeuw bedekt waren wilde een hinde wel even langs lopen om het beeld aan te vullen. Voor mij was dat meteen het mooiste beeld van de dag.

Winter seems to ignore our country more and more. And when winter conditions do occur in The Netherlands they often skip Noord-Holland. On January 30 we could finally enjoy snow. The Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen often give nice photo opportunities. This time, the Fallow Deer were very cooperative. When I took some photo's of a few nice trunks covered with snow a doe walked bye to complement the image. For me that was the most beautiful picture of the day.

Happy Valentine

Deze vossen waren al aardig in een voorjaarsstemming. Op de enige sneeuwrijke dag (tot nu toe) van het jaar hadden ze een sneeuwvrij plekje opgezocht. Ik vond het beeld wel passend voor Valentijsdag.

These foxes were already in the mood for spring. On the only snowy day (so far) of the year they had found a snow-free spot. I thought the image would be appropriate for Valentine's Day
